Alors même si vous n'avez qu'une compréhension fragmentaire du letton, trouvez un ou une volontaire local(e) qui vous soufflera des explications dans l'oreille et faites-vous plaisir.
"Adama stasts", Théâtre National Letton
Beside "Skroderdienas silmacos" and "Draudzes bazaar" (two classical masterpieces of Latvian comedy), my experience of Latvian theater is close to nil. So what a good surprise it was to discover "Adama stasts" ("the story of Adam") ! Not only was Indra Roga able to give a strong and lively body to this real life tale of a disinherited cripple looking for his one and only, but she made a brilliant whirlwind of images, sounds, feelings and lights of it. The just minimalism of the decor enhances the perfect game of the actors and provides the ultimate background for their dances, songs and vocal reproduction of all of the Latvian countryside sounds. It is at the same time light and poignant and later, getting to sleep, you can't avoid re-playing the images in your mind.
So even if you just have a fragmentary grasp of the Latvian language, find some local volunteer to whisper some explanations in your ear and just enjoy.
